Two Parties, One Day, One Venue!

Transportation Party, July 14.  Afternoon party at Shakey's.
Noah's Ark Party, July 14.  Lunch Party at Shakey's.
It's been a while since I last posted.  Paperminties has been busy this month and we are so grateful!  Yay!  For starters, we were booked to do party paperminties with a transportation theme for July 14...then came a last minute booking for a Noah's Ark party also on the same date! Despite the last minute advice, I couldn't resist doing the Noah's Ark party theme since it was so exciting to do!  The surprise was that it was going to be in the same venue.  One party during lunch and the other, an after-lunch party.  What blessings for paperminties!

The transportation party was booked months before the event.  Jose was turning one and his parents sought paperminties' help to do the party decor.  Both Daddy and Mommy were so hands-on with the party planning and conceptualization.  They chose this party theme since Jose loves all kinds of vehicles.  The party decor centered on the transportation giveaways they handpicked (they had to be food-grade plastic by the way!) and the color scheme/theme was just red, blue, yellow and green.  The only party decor out of the color scheme were the centerpiece sticks in yellow and black (by paperminties), and the orange traffic cones that both Mommy and Daddy worked on.  The orange cones were so seamlessly done that they fooled many into thinking that they were the real deal.  I really wish I could take the credit for making them!  LOL!

Below are some pre-party photos and photos of the party itself.

The giveaways dictated the color theme -  red, yellow, blue and green.

Days before the Transportation party, another friend of mine messaged me and asked for help to decorate her baby's Baptismal Reception scheduled on the same date, July 14.  I hesitated at first due to time constraints but when I found out that the theme was Noah's Ark, I just couldn't resist!  Just visualizing the ark and cutesy animals excited me!  After agreeing to do the decor, I was surprised to find out that the Noah's Ark party was going to be held in the same venue - Shakey's, Sucat!  What are the chances?!?!  It further confirmed my decision to go for it!

Here are the photos.

Party Paperminties - "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"

When I was told of the next party paperminties theme "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," I was thrilled and excited!  I am an Eric Carle fan.  Each of his illustrations is really a work of art. When I look through his books, I imagine how he designed each masterpiece and tediously painted and handpicked the perfect paper to complete them.

Wanting to get some insight into his design process, I researched a bit and found this on his official website.  This is what he says about his artwork, "I begin with plain tissue paper and paint it with different colors, using acrylics. Sometimes I paint with a wide brush, sometimes with a narrow brush. Sometimes my strokes are straight, and sometimes they’re wavy. Sometimes I paint with my fingers. Or I paint on a piece of carpet, sponge, or burlap and then use that like a stamp on my tissue papers to create different textures."

For this party paperminties theme, I wanted to make each one as close to the original artwork as possible and thought of using tissue paper as well but since it's not going to hold up on a wall or a centerpiece stick, I decided to do my own cut-paper versions.

party paperminties was on tata&anna's blog!

Last week, party paperminties was mentioned for the very first time on another blog and it was on tata&anna!

Tata&anna's blog post was all about parties and celebrations.  It was a walk down memory lane seeing the beginnings of party paperminties - "The Cat in the Hat" hats as table decor and Under the Sea large wall art which I worked on years ago, not thinking yet then that it could be possible additions to the paperminties line...And seeing how it has somewhat evolved to what it is now with the "Snakes" and "Light Blue and Lavender" parties.

It made me so happy to have party paperminties featured, much more so because it was on THEIR blog!
The lovely ladies behind the blog tata & anna.  Anna (L) and Tata (R).

The two lovely ladies behind the blog tata & anna are no less than Tata Mapa and Anna Chan.  Tata Mapa is a freelance writer, book editor and was the former editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Weddings Philippines.  Anna Chan was contributing stylist to Martha Stewart Weddings Philippines and still is for Smart Parenting magazine ( check out her article on labeling school materials which came out in the June 2013 issue of the magazine.  You may also have a look at it on their FB page - tata & anna ).
One of the Martha Stewart Weddings Philippines covers they worked on together.  Every MSW Philippines cover was so unique and gorgeous.  Martha Stewart herself approved every one of them.

Anna's article on labeling which came out in Smart Parenting magazine, June 2013.  Visit tata & anna on FB to see the complete article.

On a side note, both Tata and Anna met Martha Stewart herself during their stint with Martha Stewart Weddings Philippines.  I mean how many people can say they were able to work on a Martha Stewart project, or that they set foot and walked through the Martha Stewart studios in New York, or met and chatted with Martha Stewart herself, right?!?
Tata with Martha.  NY, 2009.
Anna with Martha.  NY, 2012.
Such credentials to boast of and to think I've only scratched the surface!  So yes, it humbles me to have party paperminties mentioned in their blog!

Since I started following their blog, I realized how much they deserve this platform to share their insights, creativity and inspiration with the rest of the world.  In one of their blog posts entitled "Work in Progress," Anna sums up how their blog has now become the "magazine" where they are able to share their life experiences.  I so agree.

So, wow, party paperminties was featured...and featured in a blog that matters!  Pinch me now.
