Halloween in August

Halloween came early for paperminties last year as we celebrated Alana's birthday in August.  Little Alana L-O-V-E-S all things Halloween and since I am all for unique parties, this party was a treat to plan with Alana's mum! ( Special thanks to Rej for the referral!)

From the party invites, down to the full party package with cut-paper art for the centerpiece sticks and wall decor, paperminties got a fair slice of the cake and boy, was it fun!

Additional story bit: Alana's mum intended to surprise Little Alana with this Halloween-themed party.  It was super gratifying to see Alana smiling from ear to ear when she saw the decorations!

A shout-out to Alana and family for entrusting this project to us!

Another shout-out to the Periwinkle and Lace team who did the dessert table!  We enjoyed working with you and admire your work.  Great job!

Here are the Halloween in August party paperminties.

The Manila Polo Club banquet and events staff did a great job coordinating the table covers with the party theme!  We are grateful!

Thank you, Polo Club, for nice, purple table covers!

Hope we got a better shot of the dessert table by Periwinkle and Lace!  They did an exquisite job bringing in the Halloween vibe!

Backlog Posts Teaser!!!

Just like that, six months passed.  Life happened, literally, as we welcomed Baby #2 in August (plus I went back to teaching at a new school).

The blog took a backseat and party paperminties posts were shelved.

With the recent party paperminties inquiries, the nagging urge to post the paperminties-decorated parties surfaced.

Please watch out for the delayed posts as we will post them soon!

Party Paperminties - Light Blue and Lavender Party

I was so excited for paperminties' second party paperminties project - a light blue and lavender party!  Quite a bit of a challenge to work on the theme since designs were limited to circles and stripes - anything overboard would have veered from the central theme.  But though it had this challenge involved, the girly color theme and freedom to work on the project were great incentives!

As promised in my previous party paperminties post, I'm posting the newest party project so here are the pretty photos.

Large Wall Decor - Mommy and birthday celebrant approved the first mock-up of the fence, mailbox, tree with circles and buntings so it was a cinch from there!

See the difference the paper bows make.  The table centerpieces look a bit plain without them.

Really fun party theme for a not-so-little girl that turned 11!

Watch out for the next party paperminties project!

Painting Tissue Roll Owls

The hoarder in me started collecting tissue paper rolls months back for crafts with the little ones or a DIY project for the home.  It wasn't till today that painting them tickled our fancy!

I saw these cute tissue roll owls on pinterest  and thought it best to get messy and paint the tissue rolls instead (I later found out that one of the little ones had already done something similar during summer school!  Oh well! :)).

So what started out looking like this:

...was transformed into this for some crayon-resist art.

My daughter wanted to prepare some herself too for the cousins.

Then we moved outdoors for some messy painting fun!

These are some "BEFORE" shots.

I only put primary paint colors so they practice making secondary colors in the process.  I love it when they say, "Look, I made green!" or "Look, I made purple!"

And some "AFTER" shots.

!!!

Some action shots while they were hard at work.

Quite fun so I painted some tissue roll owls myself!

Here are some of our tissue roll owls ( I think we painted nine it total).
I painted the first two.  Didn't the little ones do a better job?!

This is another easy peasy, fun craft activity that every kid (and kid-at-heart) will enjoy!

Try it yourself! = )
